Parishioner's CornerA Remembrance Day Reflection in Song A few of our members have asked how they can obtain a copy the song "Kandahar Fields" which was shared last Sunday as part of the Remembrance Day Sunday service. "Kandahar Fields" lyrics are shown below and can be streamed and downloaded for free on Soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/manywaters/kandahar-fields?si=26c6117dd6c74d33851726c42bca84b4&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
Kandahar Fields
Lyrics & Music by Eric Macdonald
Sung by Katie Lamont, Flute arrangement by Tracy Canil
A white dove in a blue sky sheds its feathers of crimson and gold
Laughter fades as the nights grow long and heroes’ stories are told
Summer to autumn and winter to spring, there's a time under heaven for everything
Now is the time to honour the good and the true
Protect the weak from harm, defend the helpless too
Time to mend the bows that are broken, forge the swords again
And lay down, lay down, lay down in the Kandahar Fields
For we'll not let go, no we’ll never let go, we will stand and pray until the day
Laughter is heard and the children play and run on the Kandahar Fields
Time to tend the ones who have fallen, mourn with those left behind
Shelter them from the terror by night, lead them from darkness to light
Mend the walls that are broken, dig the wells again
Plant the fields for harvest sown with seeds of peace
And lay down, lay down, lay down in the Kandahar Fields
For we'll not let go, no we’ll never let go, we will stand and pray until the day
Laughter is heard and the children play and run on the Kandahar Fields
And lay down, lay down, lay down in the Kandahar Fields
Lay down in the Kandahar Fields
You can read more about the song in an article by Tom Hawthorne, for the Globe and Mail. https://tomhawthorn.blogspot.com/2008/11/boomers-legacy-forever-enshrined-in.html
"Kandahar Fields" was used to help inspire the founding "Boomers Legacy" - a Canadian charity which continues to raise funds in support of humanitarian "boots on the ground" projects in places around the world where our military is deployed. Warden's Corner
St Peter’s continues to be a very active Parish these days as we transition to a new Rector. Thanks to the energy and dedication of our many volunteers, Parish Council, Search Committee and part time interim Incumbent, Rev Alan Naylor, St Peter’s is thriving and busier than ever despite being without a full time Rector!
To help us keep up with this activity, the Wardens have asked David Duncan to serve as ”Secretary to the Parish Council”. The position of Council Secretary is permitted in the Canons by appointment as non-voting and is a governance support role rather than a clerical one.
David’s focus will be to oversee communications within the parish, help prepare for the Annual Vestry Meeting in February and coordinate the nominations process for next year’s Wardens, Council members and Synod Delegates. (Council meeting minutes will continue to be taken and filed by our Admin Assistant, Sara Bronson.) Thank you David for assisting us with your administrative gifts through this time of change!

St George's is Holding a Faith Sharing WorkshopSaturday, November 29 St George's is inviting us to join them for a Faith Sharing Workshop: As Christians we are part of God’s wonderful story of reconciling love in Jesus Christ. God’s love story with humanity that we read about in Scripture is meant to be shared with all. Yet, so often as Christians we struggle to find the words to express our faith in an increasingly secular and pluralistic world. Do you struggle to tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love? You are not alone and there is a hopeful way forward! Join Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart for a fun and interactive workshop as we deepen our ability to speak the faith and cheerfully share the gospel story.
