Moving Forward….

When Joshua gathered the Israelites to cross over the river Jordan and enter the a new promised land, he instructed them to set up twelve stones from the middle of the river along the shore. The stones served as a reminder of the many ways that God had provided for their needs while they had been wandering in the desert wilderness. St Peter’s has been in a kind of wilderness as well this past year as we searched for a new Rector and, like Joshua, we are now being called to move ahead into new and uncharted territory.

This Sunday, Francis begins as our new Rector and will walk with us into a new “promised land.” As we stand at this threshold, let us pause to recall the many ways that God has richly provided for our needs this past year. We give thanks especially for Alan’s gentle and wise shepherding as well as the abundant offerings of time, talents, and funds.

Joshua’s memorial stones also remind us, not only of God’s faithfulness thus far, but also of God’s promise that His Presence will always go with us. So too, let us turn our attention to the future and move forward in the Spirit trusting in God’s Presence and His promise to provide for our every need step by step on the road ahead.

As we enter the summer season, our weekly Compline service will be taking a temporary hiatus. 

The service will pause for the months of July and August to allow our leaders and volunteers a time of rest and refreshment.

We will gather again to resume our regular Compline schedule in September. Specific dates and times for our autumn return will be shared in the newsletter.
