From the Warden's Corner...
In John 15, Jesus instructed His disciples to “remain in my love so that your joy may be complete.” Last month we wrote down some of the things that give us joy at St Peter’s and placed them in our offering. Forty-two “joy notes” were offered containing a total of 133 “joy moments”. Twenty- nine percent of the “joy moments” described experiencing a loving one another while attending church on a Sunday. Forty-eight percent described specific aspects of the Anglican liturgy and the sanctuary. Twenty- three percent were about outreach and mid-week ministries. On reflection, several themes stood to me out as sources of joy such as: social connection, caring for one another; music, Anglican liturgy, the sermon, and community outreach. Each of the many joy moments that people offered comprise a picture of who we are and what we value as parish. Next week our search committee will begin to interview some of the applicants for Rector. Please continue to pray for the Search Committee as they seek to discern the person that God is calling to be our Rector and that the successful candidate will share our joy in caring for what we value most. |
